ABOUT US
established in 2012 in Platanes- Rethymnon, Evelin Dive Center has opened its doors and ever since then welcomes thousands of visitors that have visited our beautiful country, Greece.
Having the blessing of the Greek Gods, giving true hospitality, great food, amazing weather & water conditions we are pleased to welcome every year old & new diving friends. Greece is comprised of thousands of islands and Crete is the largest of all with a dramatic and expansive coastline, underwater adventure awaits to be explored, enjoy the blue of these waters in a clear electric shade that seems endless when you stare straight down.
Our summer season starts from mid April until end of October.
Water temperature starts around 17 degrees in April raising up to 28 degrees in July & August.
Our multilingual team is here to welcome you fluent in English, German, French & Greek.
OUR FACILITIES
The dive center in Platanes, Rethymnon is where we gather up in the morning to prepare paper forms, equipment and head to the south side of Rethymno, which is approx a 45min drive, if we are diving either in Skinaria or the old Damnoni harbor off shore.
In the little beautiful fishing village Georgioupolis right in front of the Kalivaki beach, you will find our second dive school. This is where we all meet in the morning to have a cup of coffee/Tea, fill up some paper forms & prepare our diving equipment, if we are diving from the north coast of the island with our speed boat.
Georgioupolis is on the border between Rethymno Prefecture to the east and Chania Prefecture to the west, although it belongs to the latter. The area around Georgioupolis is Apokoronas, with its picturesque villages and verdant landscape. The cities of Chania and Rethymno are not far away. Georgioupolis is located about 35 km east of Chania and approx. 22 km west of Rethymno: a very quiet, but central location on Crete, ideal for holidaymakers who would also like to explore the island.
OUR TOP DIVE SITE for certified divers
Our diamond, and unique dive site is the amazing “Elephant Cave”. Since operating the dive center, 8 fabulous years now, this dive site has been rated from experienced divers from all around the globe as one of their top 10 best dive sites around the world.
For our scuba diving addicts we offer a multi day dive package which allows our guests to dive multiple times with a better deal, to make sure you get the chance to dive as much as you like with us.
We always split our divers according to their experience/ Level and max 4 divers per Instrucor/ DIvemaster.
Air per dive: 200 Bar (Faber tanks with single and double Aqualung DIN valves in capacities of 6L, 8L, 10L, 12L and 15L)
Dives per day for the certified divers is 2.
The certified divers, after completing their paper forms and equipment will depart to the harbor and sail off with our speed boat to one of our dive sites.
After their 1st dive, we will offer you a small snack (sandwich or seasonal fruit) and after an hour break you will get to dive for a second time at a different dive site.
Once we are done with the diving we head back to the dive school by the Kalivaki beach, to have a chat, fill our dive logbooks & relax under the Cretan sun. Once everyone is ready we will drive you back to your accommodation.
FOR OUR BEGINNERS & SCUBA TRAINING
For our Discover scuba diving lesson and Padi beginner dive courses, we stay in the bay at Kalivaki beach, where we can benefit from highly beginner-friendly conditions.
This is where the fun part starts for our scuba diving friends. In case your Hotel/ accommodation is located in Rethymnon, please feel free to contact us for our free transfer service we offer. If you wish to be more flexible you can meet us by the Kalivaki beach, after getting in contact with us, to avoid disappointment.
HELPFUL TIPPS
During early and late season, please be aware that a 5mm with vest and hoodie are recommended.
In case you do not plan to travel with your scuba gear, do not worry. We can provide all dive equipment needed, from shorties to hoodies to 5mm wetsuits etc.
